Turkey earthquake death toll rises sharply, at least 170 confirmed dead
Feb. 6: The earthquake in Turkey has mainly affected 10 cities of the country. Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman said that those cities are - Kahmanmarash, Hayte, Gaziantep, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa, Malatya, Adana, Diyarbakir, and Kilis.
According to initial information received after the earthquake, more than 170 people died in Turkey and neighboring Syria. According to the official, the death toll is increasing rapidly.
According to the Turkish Disaster Management Department AFAD, 76 people have died and 440 people have been injured in the country so far due to the earthquake.
Similarly, the Syrian government media, quoting officials, reported that more than 100 people have died and more than 200 people have been injured. There are reports that many houses have collapsed in Aleppo.
According to the governor of Malatya city in Syria, 23 people have died due to the earthquake so far. According to him, 42 people were injured and around 140 houses were damaged in the city. The governor of Osmaniye city confirmed five deaths, while 17 deaths were reported in Sanliurfa and 6 in Diyarbakır.
