Separate line for workers going to foreign employment removed at TIA

KATHMANDU, Jan. 30: A separate line arranged for workers going for foreign employment at Tribhuvan International Airport has been removed. At the request of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, following the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the separate line that was kept at the airport has been removed.

There was a separate desk for people going for foreign employment during immigration check for departure through TIA. After pressure from all sides, the desk was removed. Although the desks were removed, a separate line was arranged for workers for immigration checks.

Danduraj Ghimire, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, said that arranging a separate line for the workers would hurt their self-esteem. On that basis, the Ministry of Labour wrote a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to remove that line. In response to the said letter, the Ministry of Home Affairs instructed to send the workers easily without discrimination. According to him, a separate line for immigration checks has been removed on the same basis.
