Decision to hold presidential election on March 9

KATHMANDU, Jan. 30: The Election Commission has fixed the date for the election of the President and Vice President. The Commission has set the date for the election of the President to be held on Thursday 9th of March and the election of the Vice President to be held on Friday 17th March.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya informed that based on the said decision, the Commission will announce the election program today. The Commission will send a written message to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Government of Nepal through the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal. The tenure of the current President Bidya Devi Bhandari is ending on March 12.
