Vaidhyakhana employees: No salary since three months

KATHMANDU, Jan. 19: The employees of Singhdarbar Vaidyakhana Development Committee have complained that they have not received their salary for three months. The employees complained that they are having trouble paying the room rent, managing meals in the morning and evening and even paying the school fees of their children.
Sanu Bahadur Poudel, the sweeper of the committee, said that he sold the television for Rs 20,000 which he bought for Rs 45,000, and paid the room rent.
Aditya Thakur, who is working as Kabiraj Vaidya of the committee, has also found it difficult to meet his household expenses as he has not received his salary for three months. The problem started because the committee is unable to produce medicine according to its capacity.
There has been a dispute for the head of the office in the committee for a long time. Although there is a provision to make the 11th-level employee of Ayurveda Group an executive director in the committee formation order, there has been a dispute in the office since the Ministry of Health and Population started sending the 10th-level employee. Acting Executive Director of the committee, Dr. Ramdev Yadav, informed that due to lack of production, there was no money and salaries were not paid to the employees.
He said that he came as the acting head of the office on September 30 and provided one month's salary and clothing allowance. Even before September, the employees of the committee received three months' salary at once. At that time, after Dr. Shyambabu Yadav came as the acting head of the office, salaries were provided to the employees with the help of the Ministry of Health and Population.
Most of the staff members of the committee have not accepted Yadav as he was appointed as acting head of the office while the code of conduct was being issued. Although the Election Commission has ordered the ministry to cancel the appointment due to the issuance of the code of conduct, it has not been implemented yet.
