Schools closed due to cold

MAHOTTARI, Jan. 3: Local levels in the district have begun closing down schools to avoid the growing cold. Nine local levels in the district issued notice to close down schools for four to eight days citing the chilling atmosphere since Monday morning.

Jaleshwor Municipality, and Pipara and Samsi Rural Municipalities decided to close the schools for a week from today.  Similarly, Matihani, Bhangaha, Loharpatti, Aurahi, Balwa Municipality, and Sonma Rural Municipality notified that the schools would remain closed for four days.

Earlier on Sunday, Manrashishwa and Ramgopalpur shut down the schools for five days. Among 15 local levels, 11 have issued a notice informing that it would be the winter vacation.

Although four local levels have not decided on the school closure, the number of students attending class has sharply declined.

The locals have notified that cold waves and fog have afflicted life in the central and southern belts of the district.
