Production of Menchhiyam Hydropower begins

SANKHUWASABHA, Dec. 31: Menchiyam Hydropower (4.72 megawatts) constructed at Piluwakhola of Sankhuwasabha has started generating electricity. The Hydropower was built with an investment of Rs 1 billion 31 crores and has started generating electricity at Piluwakhola in Chainpur municipality of Sankhuwasabha. It started functioning under the initiative of former state minister Deepak Khadka. The generated electricity is connected to the national transmission line. Hydropower's chairman Khadka and industrialist Binod Choudhary inaugurated the hydropower project in Sankhuwasabha on the 13th of Push.
In a program organized on the occasion of the completion of hydropower, Nepali Congress leader Khadka said that there was some delay in the construction of hydropower due to the corona epidemic. He stated that the hydropower was completed after six years. "We are preparing to issue shares with local residents as the first priority", he said.
Engineer Bikal Thapa has informed that the hydropower project has the capacity to produce 5.2 megawatts.
