English New Year: Street festival to be held in Thamel

KATHMANDU, Dec.30: On the occasion of the English New Year 2023, a street festival will be held in Thamel, the main tourist city of the capital. A road festival is going to be held in Thamel on the evening of the 16th Push(December 31st) by the Thamel Tourism Development Council to promote the tourism of the Thamel region which has been affected by Covid.
In a press conference organized by the Council this morning at Sky Line Hotel Thamel, President of the Parishad Bhaviswar Sharma informed that they are going to organize a Thamel Road Festival on the main road in front of Sanchayakosh on the occasion of English New Year to revive the tourism of Thamel which has been affected by Corona.
 The council said that one lakh people will participate in the street festival to be organized in Thamel.
Chairman Sharma said that security management and traffic management have been discussed with the Nepal Police to complete the Thamel Road Festival. Chairman Sharma said that they have demanded Thamel be declared a special tourist zone through the road festival.
Vice President of Thamel Tourism Development Council Sahdev Dhamala expressed his belief that the Thamel Road Festival will help businessmen in Thamel to promote their goods and services. Vice President Dhamala said that the program, which will be hosted by Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, will start at 5:30 pm on Push 16 and the cultural program will last until 12:30 pm.
Lately, the Thamel Tourism Development Council has managed the unorganized wires in Thamel in collaboration with various internet companies. Rajeev Pandey, General Secretary of the Council informed that around Rs. 25 lakhs will be expended to complete the festival. The organizers believe the road festival to help in the construction of a systematic Thamel.
