SC scraps writ petition filed by AIG Bishwaraj Pokharel against appointment of IGP

KATHMANDU, July 15: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday passed a verdict to scrap a writ petition filed by Assistant Inspector General of Nepal Police(AIG) Bishwaraj Pokharel against the appointment of Diraj Pratap Singh to the post of Inspector General of Nepal Police. 

According to Bimal Poudel, spokesperson of the apex court, a joint bench of acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki and Justice Kumar Chundal passed a verdict to scrap the petition.

Earlier on May 1, 2022, the Cabinet had decided to appoint Diraj Pratap Singh to the post of IGP of Nepal Police. 

Later, AIG Bishwaraj Pokharel had filed a writ petition at the apex court accusing the government of not making the appointment on the basis of seniority.
