Agriculture Minister Yadav in India as southern neighbor fails to supply fertilizers as per agreement

KATHMANDU, June 3: Mahendra Yadav, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, is currently in India as the southern neighbor has failed to supply fertilizers to the country as per the agreement earlier reached.

Minister Yadav will be holding meetings with his counterpart and other officials regarding the timely supply of fertilizers.

Earlier, Nepal had signed an agreement with India for purchasing of fertilizer through a G2G system. However, India has so far failed to supply the required amount of fertilizers to Nepal.

As the monsoon is soon to begin in the country, cultivation of paddy (a major food crop of the country) is all set to kick off. If the government fails to supply fertilizers to the farmers on time, production of paddy will largely be hit.
