Nepal begins exporting electricity to India
KATHMANDU, June 2: With a surge in production, Nepal has begun exporting electricity to India from Thursday.
According to Suresh Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal has formally begun supplying electricity to India from today. “Excess electricity is being exported to India”, he further added.
Nepal electricity production has reached 1,300 Megawatt currently following the beginning of pre-monsoon.
The authority is currently exporting 37.7 Megawatt of electricity produced from Trishuli and Devighat Hydropower Projects.
