Chiribabu Maharjan secures his victory in Lalitpur metropolis

KATHMANDU, May 23: Chiribabu Maharjan, mayoral candidate of Nepali Congress backed by the ruling alliance, has secured his victory in Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

So far, Maharjan has garnered 40,928 votes while his nearest contender Hari Krishna Byanjankar of CPN-UML has collected 23,321 votes.

Of 86,540 votes casted in the metropolis, 3,000 votes now remain to be counted.

Maharjan has maintained lead of 17,607 over his nearest contenter. In this view, Maharjan has already won the election.
