Candidates of ruling alliances win election in Birgunj metropolis

KATHMANDU, May 23: Rajesh Man Singh of Janata Samajbadi Party, backed by the ruling alliance, has been elected mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Singh secured 46,215 votes while his nearest contender Bijay Sarawagi of CPN-UML collected 22,671 votes.

Likewise, Imtiaz Alam of Nepali Congress has been elected deputy mayor of the metropolis. However, the official result for deputy mayor is yet to be published.
