Kathmandu Valley alone reports 3,939 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, on Monday, witnessed a total of 3,939 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). 

According to the daily COVID-19 updates released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Kathmandu district alone reported 2,943 new cases in the past 24 hours. While 795 new cases were detected in Lalitpur, 201 others tested positive for the virus in Bhaktapur district. 

Monday’s case tally took the total number of active cases in the Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital lies, to 19,387. It accounts for 62.87 percent of the active caseload in the country as of Monday afternoon. 

Of the three districts, Kathmandu has the highest of 13,986 active cases.
