Maoist Chair Prachanda’s writ petition to be heard by division bench again
KATHMANDU, Jan 13: A writ petition filed by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is to be heard again by a division bench.
Prachanda filed the petition demanding the Supreme Court (SC) validate the action taken against the people’s representatives at the local federal units elected from the party.
The party had taken disciplinary action against them after they decided to join other parties. The Election Commission (EC) had also declared their positions vacant. The apex court, however, hearing the petition filed by the sacked people’s representatives, ordered that they should be allowed to carry out their regular duties at their offices.
Prachanda, on July 22, filed the writ petition demanding the apex court quash its interim order.
During a preliminary hearing, a division bench had forwarded the case to the full bench. However, a full bench comprising justices trio Deepak Kumar Karki, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Kumar Regmi, on Thursday, issued an order that the case will be heard by a division bench.
