SC justices to hold another round of ‘talks’ with CJ Rana
KATHMANDU: Justices at the Supreme Court (SC), who have been ‘boycotting’ benches assigned to them, have decided to hold another round of talks with Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.
A meeting of the justices decided to continue talks with CJ Rana who has been embroiled in controversy of late for ‘demanding for a share’ in the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led Cabinet, to hold a meeting with CJ Rana on Monday.
The justices had held a meeting with Rana on Tuesday, last week and asked the latter to step down and give a way out.
A high-level source at the Supreme Court told Ratopati that some justices called on CJ Rana and arranged Monday’s meeting.
CJ Rana, during Tuesday's meeting with his fellow justices, had said that he would not step down only because there are calls from the streets. “I’d rather face a constitutional process,” he had said.
The justices are expected to formulate necessary strategies following Monday’s meeting.
