EPL 2021: Tigers beat Rhinos in final

KATHMANDU: Chitwan Tigers, under the captainship of pacer Sompal Kami, have won the maiden title of the fourth season of Everest Premier League (EPL). 

In the final match played at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday afternoon, the Tigers beat Pokhara Rhinos by four wickets. 

Tigers elected to bowl first after winning the toss and restricted the Rhinos to a total of 111 runs. The Rhinos lost all the wickets in the 18th over. Asela Gunaratne scored the highest 34 runs for the Rhinos followed by Richard Levi’s 26, skipper Binod Bhandari’s 22 and Bipin Rawal’s 17. 

Tigers’ Kamal Airee took four wickets conceding just 20 runs in the four overs. Karim Janat and Seekkuge Prasanna’s two-wicket haul each helped the Tigers restrict the Rhinos to a low total. 

Chasing the target, the Tigers lost three early wickets  --- Hasim Ansari in the first over, Karim Janat in the second over and Mohammad Shahzad in the fourth over. However, Bhim Sarki’s 63 runs off 45 balls led them to an easy victory. While Dilip Nath scored 18 runs, Rajesh Pulami added another 14. 

Rhinos’ Kishor Mahato claimed four Tigers’ batsmen while Nandan Yadav took two wickets.
