Amid concerns about conflict of interest, CJ Rana not to assign cause list in case relating to Constitutional Council

CJ Rana says he will stay on leave on verdict day 

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Amid the concerns about conflict of interest, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has decided to limit his roles in the constitutional bench which is scheduled to hear a case relating to the Constitutional Council (CC). 

During the hearing on Friday, the writ petitioners demanded that CJ Rana should not preside the bench owing to conflict of interest

Following Friday’s hearing, CJ Rana said that he would not assign the causelist. With this, senior most Justice Dipak Kumar Karki will fix the cause list relating to the case. 

Similarly, CJ Rana will alsy stay on leave on the day the court issues its verdict over the case

Advocates Om Prakash Aryal, Dinesh Tripathi and Shambhu Thapa asked the chief justice not to chair the constitutional bench.
