UML Row: Chairman Oli announces ‘general amnesty’ to Nepal faction
KATHMANDU, July 22: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has announced to grant ‘general amnesty’ to those leaders and lawmakers belonging to the dissident faction in the party led by senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Referring to the lawmakers who voted in favor of the confidence motion of Prime MInister Sher Bahadur Deuba, he said that those who ‘took the wrong path’ will be excused if they make their return to the party.
Addressing a program organized in the capital on the occasion of Pushpa Lal Shrestha Memorial Day on Thursday, Oli claimed that UML will not perish despite several challenges. “This is party guided by the principles and thoughts of many personalities like Pushpa Lal and Madan Bhandari. This is not an alliance of the interest groups.”
Oli, earlier on Wednesday, also declared to designate Nepal as the second chairman of the party to ‘save party unity’.
