Prez Bhandari summons House sessions for July 18
KATHMANDU, July 16: President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, summoned fresh sessions of both the houses of the Federal Parliament for July 18.
The new sessions of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly (NA) will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday at the New Baneshwor-based Federal Parliament Building.
The sessions were summoned on the recommendation of theCouncil of Ministers in accordance with Article 157 (1) of the Constitution, according to the Office of the President.
A Cabinet meeting held at the Singha Durbar-based Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) on Thursday afternoon decided to this effect, according to government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
A constitutional bench, on Monday, ordered the government to summon the meeting of the reinstated HoR by July 18.
The lower House of parliament, which was dissolved on May 22 for the second time, was restored by the Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana-led bench.
