Constitution amendment bill will be taken forward: Chairman Dahal
Kathmandu - CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that constitution amendment bill registered in Parliament would be taken forward.
At a parliamentary board meeting of the Maoist Centre at Singha Durbar today, Chairman Dahal said, "The bill should be forwarded for the sake of national interest."
"Strengthening national unity and widening the scope of constitution is our goal. So the constitution amendment bill, registered by the Maoist Center-led government, will come into play," said the former Prime Minister.
Saying there was no alternative to bringing disgruntled parties including Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal on board the election by taking a final decision on the amendment bill, Chairman Dahal said that other forces would take benefit if the issue was not settled in a responsible manner.
He also stressed that all sides should be responsible for constitution implementation and holding elections.
The meeting also discussed other issues including the fielding of candidacy for the vacant post of chairperson of International Labour Relations Committee and members of other committee under the Legislature-Parliament.
Chief Whip of the Maoist Centre, Tek Bahadur Basnet, said that the meeting has suggested filing the candidacy for chairperson of International Labour Relations Committee, informing that the party headquarter meeting would take a final decision on it.
