Nepal’s scary COVID-19 graph: 31,937 new cases and 164 fatalities in just 27 days

Kathmandu Valley alone added 1,966 new cases on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, April 27: Triggered by a new variant, the second wave of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been spreading far and wide across the country. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 31,937 more people were diagnosed with the viral infection in just 27 days -- between April 1 and 27. Similarly, as many as 164 patients succumbed to the disease in this period. 

The government officials on Tuesday confirmed as many as 4,524 new cases across the country including 1,966 those detected in the Kathmandu Valley alone. 

The government authorized the local administration to enforce prohibitory orders to contain the further spread of the virus if the number of cases surpasses 200 in the hill districts and 500 in those districts located in terai and the Valley.
