Goverment urges schools with high student numbers to run classes in shifts

KATHMANDU, April 16: Amid the onset of the second wave of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the government has asked the schools to run the classes in shifts.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, through a statement on Thursday, asked schools with a high number of students to operate the classes in shifts so as to avoid the further spread COVID-1 9 and abide by the COVID-19 protocols issued earlier by the ministry.
The ministry also directed one and all not to organize any kind of events that form crowds at the educational institutions. The ministry imposed restriction on holding assemblies, ceremonies and anniversaries at the educational institutions.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), earlier on Thursday, urged the parents not to send their children to schools in 14 districts across the country amid the rising fears of the second wave of the COVID-19. The MoHP classified 14 districts including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Rupandehi, Chitwan, Banke, Parsa, Kailali, Morang, Dang, Surkhet, Bara and Banglung as the extremely affected districts.
