Chemical fertilizer shortage increases farmers' woes
Dhangadhi - Farmers of Kailali district are worried due to shortage of chemical fertilizers in view of cultivating wheat.
The shortage of fertilizers was created in the district after the stock was clear at Agriculture Inputs Company Limited and Salt Trading Corporation Limited – the authorized agency to distribute chemical fertilizers of government subsidy.
Locals have voiced their complaint that the wheat yield will go down this year due to shortage of chemical fertilizers.
They have also expressed their concern over the indifference of the regulatory body while the subsidy fertilizer is being distributed from Agro-vet of local market.
Assistant General Manager of Salt Trading Corporation Dhangadhi Office Keshab Prasad Pandey said that the office has the stock of around 300 packs of Urea fertilizer and 15 metric tons of Potassium but the stock of DAP fertilizer is nil.
He further said that 500 Metric tons DAP is possibly available to the office within a week. It may be a little relief to the farmers during the wheat cultivation time.
