Karnali Province Chief Kalauni extends Lhosar greetings


Chief of the Karnali Province, Govinda Prasad Kalauni has extended hearty best wishes on the occasion of the 'Gyalpo and Sonam Lhosar Festival, 2077'. Issuing a greetings message today, the Province Chief wished for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the citizens of Karnali province as well as all the Nepalis on the occasion of the Gyalpo and Sonam Lhosar.

The people of the Buddhist faith celebrate the Gyalpo Lhosar while the Tamang community marks the Sonam Lhosar as the New Year's Day and as their biggest festival.

Accordingly, for the people celebrating Gyalpo Lhosar the 'year of the ox' begins from today with the termination of the 'year of the rat'. Similarly, for the Tamang community, the 'year of the pig' has begun from today. 

Province Chief Kalauni has expressed the belief that the both the Lhosar festivals will help forge mutual brotherhood, social goodwill and unity among all the Nepalis. He observed that festivals like this helped consolidate social harmony and unity in a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious nation like Nepal. 

Cultural festivals contribute to strengthening social unity: Chief Minister Shahi 
Likewise, Chief Minister of the Karnali Province Government, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has opined that the cultural festivals celebrated by various communities in the country have helped maintain social goodwill and unity in a diverse society. 

The Chief Minister wished for the good health, happiness and prosperity of all the people in the province as well as the entire country on the occasion of the Gyalpo and Sonam Lhosar festivals.
