PHSA to run master's degree programme
Kathmandu - The first Senate meeting of the Pokhara Health Science Academy (PHSA) on Friday has approved the budget for fiscal year 2074/75 BS. The meeting also has decided to run master's degree (MD) classes.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba who is also the Chancellor of the academy. Addressing the meeting PM Deuba said that the Academy was established as per the government's policy of establishing a health science academy in each province in the country. PM Deuba urged the academy officials to work as per the objectives of the academy to reach the quality health services and produce skilled manpower in the region.
Chancellor Deuba further directed the officials to introduce new programmes by conducting the quality research in the health sector.
The government had decided to transform the regional hospital into a health science academy and sent the bill to the parliament last year. The Legislature Parliament had also unanimously approved the Pokhara Health Science Academy-2015 bill on December 21 last year itself.
Similarly, speaking in the meeting, Pro-Chancellor of the academy and Minister for Health Giriraj Mani Pokharel also directed the academy officials to easily reach the quality health services to the folks as the health service was guaranteed as the fundamental rights in the constitution.
He further urged the academy to prepare long term plans as per its objectives.
Vice chancellor Prof Dr Buddhi Bahadur Thapa had updated the Senate on different agendas including previous year’s outcomes and proposed plans for the forthcoming years.
