NSU voices concern on KU’s act of charging fees during pandemic

Kathmandu - Nepali Congress (NC)’s youth wing, Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), has expressed concern on the Kathmandu University (KU)’s act of slapping educational fees to the students during the time of pandemic. Issuing a press release on Monday evening, NSU president Rajib Dhungana has expressed concern over the KU’s recent notice calling for the students to pay educational fees ignoring the context of the pandemic.

“Let the KU stop the act of merely raising fee in various pretexts at a time when there was no regular teaching and learning activities”, he said. NSU has claimed that the students of the KU have also lent support to the sit-in staged by NSU calling for the withdrawal of tuition fees.

NSU has expressed concern over the KU’s act of collecting fees from the students with penalty for delay payment even amidst the unfavoruable situation brought out by COVID-19. NSU’s general secretary Deepak Bhattarai said it was not apt on part of the KU to collect fees from the students in various contexts without caring of the difficult situation.
