Construction of physical infrastructures begins in Manahukot

Kathmandu - The Byas Municipality in Tanahu district has initiated construction of physical infrastructures at Manahukot at Byas Municipality-5 in the district to develop the place as a tourist destination. Manahukot dubbed as a natural view tower offers a clear vista of Damauli market and verdant forests, lush green hills and other natural heritages in the surrounding.

The Mata Barahi Construction Pvt Ltd has been awarded the Rs 3.6 million contract to construct a view tower at Mahanukot to attract domestic as well as external tourists, informed Byas Municipality-5 ward chair Mohan Kumar Shrestha. Shrestha shared that a railing leading up to the Mahanukot hill has already been built to facilitate the visitors.

The two-storey view tower is expected to be built within six months. The COVID-19 crisis has however affected the construction of the view tower, according to Shrestha, adding all the health safety measures have been put in place while constructing the view towers and other physical infrastructures.

Domestic tourists have begun thronging the area for a panoramic view of mountains such as Machhapuchre, Annapurna, Manaslu and Lamjung. Earlier in January this year, former President Ram Baran Yadav had called for developing Manahukot as a tourist spot given its historical significance. The federal government has provided Rs 70 million for the blacktopping of the road leading up to Manahukot.
