Sports has good prospects: President Bhandari

Kathmandu - President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said Nepali sports sector has a good prospect. Active role of the stakeholders would help realize the goal in this sector. 

Inaugurating the 9th President Running Shield and School Sports Competition organized by the National Sports Council (NSC) on Thursday, President Bhandari said the State should provide subsistence allowance and opportunities for encouraging athletes. 

The President suggested that the schools could select the games as per geographical and cultural diversity of the country, which could also promote sports tourism. 

The competition would have various games as volleyball, kabaddi, Wushu, football, cricket, karate, and athletics. 

Various places, including Dasharath Stadium and Kirtipur playground have been selected for playing the matches. 

The first team would be provided Rs 25,000 in cash prize while the second will get Rs 20,000 and the third Rs 15,000.
