Farmers to be made professional and competitive, Prachanda says
Kathmandu - CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the farmers should be made professional and competitive along with the state's sufficient investment in agriculture.
At an interaction organized by National Peasants Commission in the capital city on Thursday, he said that use of technology in agriculture sector, increment in the investment amount and professionalism of the farmers is needed.
Saying that agriculture was our economy's backbone, the former prime minister said that his government worked by declaring 'super zone' and 'zone' for agricultural development.
On the occasion, Prachanda said that foreign direct investment can be brought in without interfering national image but national necessity should be made the first precondition.
He also said that national capital was not being utilized for lack of political stability in the country and stressed the need for making traditional agriculture modern one.
Commission's Chairman Chitra Bahadur Shrestha and experts on agriculture sector also expressed their opinions on impact of foreign investment in agriculture sector and Nepal's recent situation.
