2.27 per cent samples collected at BPKIHS Dharan test COVID-19 positive

Kathmandu - Birat Anupam Statistics shows that 2.27 per cent throat swab samples collected at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences have tested COVID-19 positive. According to Dr. Nidesh Sapkota, the spokesperson at the Dharan-based teaching hospital, a total of 19,450 samples have been collected at the microbiology lab of the BPKIHS as of Monday evening.

Out of these samples collected, 441 have tested positive which accounts for 2.27 per cent of the total samples collected. However, rest of the tested samples have tested negative. Dr Sapkota said the situation is not troubling as in the last 24 hours, only a single pandemic patient has admitted to the hospital. Currently, 100 pandemic patients are undergoing treatment at BPKIHS.

Four pandemic patients have breathed their last and 292 are discharged after recovering, informed Dr Sapkota. BPKIHS is the first health facility in the State-1 to start Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (PCR). It started PCR test since March 29, just six days after the nationwide lockdown in Nepal. Chief Minister of the State-1 had inaugurated its official beginning.
