Vote count resumes in Dharan after 59 hours
Itahari - Vote count has resumed in Dharan municipality after 59 hours.
Vote count of the municipality was put on hold after dispute among the contesting political parties over the calculation of votes in ward number 9.
A meeting concluded late night came up with a decision on consensus to resume vote count from this morning.
The meeting decided to replace the existing Election Officer Jaya Prasad Mahat with Kamal Thapa, review the already counted votes of ward numbers 1 to 8 and recount of votes in ward 9,10 and 11.
Chief Returning Officer Arjun Kumar Koirala took the initiative to give outlet to the deadlock surfaced in vote count in Dharan.
Political parties including CPN (Maoist Centre) had voiced concern over the deliberate mistakes committed by two employees deputed in vote count. The two employees have been suspended.
According to the results already published, Nepali Congress had won all posts in ward 1 and 2 while UML emerged winner in wards 3,4,5,6,7, and 8 of the municipality.
