Long route vehicles to be operated only from Bus Parks
Kathmandu - From now onwards, the vehicles plying on long route will be allowed to operate to and from Gongabu Bus Park (New Bus Park) and the Old Bus Park only.
The decision to this effect was taken by a meeting held under the chairmanship of Director General of the Department of Transport Management, Rup Narayan Bhattarai and attended by the Chiefs of the subordinate bodies under the Department as well as the Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD).
This is aimed at streamlining the transportation system in the Kathmandu Valley as many vehicles of long route were found to haphazardly pick up and drop the passengers from anywhere in the Valley, shared MPTD Chief Mingmar Lama.
According to the decision, the buses entering the Valley from Kalanki will directly go to New Bus Park and exit from the same bus park for such vehicles going out of Valley through Kalanki.
Those vehicles not abiding by this regulation would be brought to book with effect from July 16, said MPTD Chief Lama. The Department would also review the capacity of these bus parks and look into the number of buses and seek alternative if need be, added Lama.
The meeting has also decided to enforce penalty from July 9 to those parking their vehicles in the green zone across the Ring Road.
