KMC ready to help revitalize Paroparkar Sanstha: KMC Mayor Shakya

Kathmandu - Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has affirmed KMC's support for the country's earliest welfare-oriented social organization, Paropakar Sanstha, for it to thrive and expand its services. 

Mayor Shakya made the pledge at a programme organized on the occasion of 71st anniversary of the philanthropic organization here on Friday. Paropakar Sanstha was set up by the first blood donor of the country, Daya Bir Singh Kansakar 

Shakya lauded the Sanstha to be one of the most important social organizations in the country whose contributions to society in various sectors such as health and education among others both inside and outside of the Kathmandu Valley were very significant. 

Paropakar Sanstha, which started as a dispensary in the beginning, runs school, orphanage, elderly home, maternity hospitals and the like. 

Once a very agile organization, Paropalar Santha has not been able to delivery upto the hilt lately in lack of governmental attention and financial constraints. 

According to General-Secretary of the Sanstha, Dr Dambar Bahadur Nepali, the organization runs on the goodwill and charitable donations of the Nepali people alone. 

Santha's Treasurer Uttam Lal Joshi shared that the expenditures incurred by the Sanstha to provide services to the service-seekers stood at over Rs 100 million in the last fiscal year. 
Sanstha's Chairperson Hitkar Bir Singh argued that the organization would be able to render more effective services to more people provided it is financially sound.
