Waste collection in Banchari soon
Kathmandu - The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to develop Banchari a solid waste collection centre in a near future.
The waste emanated from different parts of Kathmandu has been collected and disposed in Sisdole.
Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis Hariprabha Khadgi informed that they were compelled to explore alternative place for waste collection following frequent disruptions from locals of Sisdole.
She further shared that collecting and managing wastes in Banchari would not affect the local residents so the KMC has initiated necessary preparatory works.
Some weeks earlier, the collection of wastes has been disrupted since a month back after locals of Sisdole roughed up a driver of the vehicle carrying wastes.
Around 13 years ago, the KMC had signed an agreement with Sisdole locals on waste collection just for a period of two years.
Locals have come up with frequent protests after KMC failed to manage solid wastes in other places while keeping the agreement.
