Protesting doctors urged to pull out agitation

Kathmandu - The government has urged protesting doctors to withdraw their protest of shutting all health institutions across the country.

The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has been protesting over the Cabinet decision that binds the concerned doctor to pay compensation amount in case of 'negligible death'. It has shut down all medical services except for emergency for the past four days.

A today's emergency Cabinet meeting that was called to discuss the demands of the NMA, voiced its concern about the shutdown, and it agreed to address their demands including security of doctors, and health workers from the next Cabinet meeting, said the government's Spokesperson Mohan Bahadur Basnet.

"The Cabinet meeting will be held after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is en route to home after attending the 72th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, arrives and their demands will be addressed from it," he said.
