1,243 earthquake survivors yet to receive first tranche of relief
Khotang - As many as 1,243 earthquake survivors of Khotang district have not yet received first tranche of relief.
The earthquake-hit have not received the amount due to dillydallying on part of employees even when the amount was allocated by the National Reconstruction Authority three months ago.
The earthquake survivors used to visit the district headquarters almost every day with hope to get the relief amount they were entitled to.
Earthquake survivor Ram Bahadur Tamang of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-11 said, "We had submitted the details long back after fulfilling the necessary process. We had already spent Rs 15,000 to get first tranche amounting to Rs 50,000".
Focal person and programme officer of the District Coordination Committee, Rabi Kiran Acharya, said that trouble was created in allocating budget after the ward chairperson and secretary did not send the details of the quake survivors and agreement letter.
He said, "We have not made any dillydally in distributing relief amount to the earthquake survivors as the details of earthquake survivors lack necessary process for the same."
Out of 8,443 earthquake survivors in the district, only 7,200 have so far received the amount of Rs 50,000 as first tranche.
