No new road improvement projects in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu–The government has not been able to come up with new road widening projects in the Kathmandu Valley as those projects launched four years back are yet to be completed.

The Kathmandu Valley Road Improvement Project said in the existing condition, it is not in a position to come up with new plans. Those projects launched four years ago targeting 10 locations in the Valley and most of them have remained incomplete, causing obstructions in the formulation of fresh ones.

According to project engineer Laxman Devkota, they presently focus on the completion of existing projects. The Public Procurement Regulations ninth amendment does not allow to have a contract for new project until the construction site remained occupied by construction materials.

Some roads are being blacktopped without expansion for the convenience of pedestrians as these roads have met with roadblock owing to legal hassles and dispute over compensation following the Superme Court intervention.
