Children's rights activists honoured
Kathmandu - The Child Protection and Promotion Committee at Kathmandu Metropolitan City's ward no 7 on Tuesday honoured children's rights campaigners for their contribution.
The KMC honoured Metro FM journalist, Rupa Sharma, Woman Study Centre's Chairperson, Sita Ojha, children's rights campaigner, Mohan Thapa, psychosocial consultant, Subash Chandra Badaal, and Kapan Baneshwor 1st Literary Weekly's Chief Editor, Nibandha Acharya.
On the occasion, litterateur Ram Prasad Gyawali called for creation of child friendly societies in each of the wards to create an environment for them to work in their own country. Terming the children as the nation builders of tomorrow, Gyawali urged the elected representatives at the local bodies to run child-friendly programmes.
KMC – 7 Ward Chairperson, Suddha Kumar Dangol, said his organization has remained active in social works along with the development of local infrastructures in the country.
Journalist Sharma stressed on need for efforts from all quarters to minimize the incidents of violence against children.
