Nuwakot bus accident: death toll reaches seven

Nuwakot - The death toll of the road accident occurred at Thana Bhanjyang of Sunkhani based in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7 Saturday morning has reached seven. 

The bus (Ba 1 Kha 6348) met with an accident as it was coming to Kharanitar of Nuwakot from Kathmandu. 

Sashi Bogati, 21, of Bidur Municipality-9, Laxmi Neupane, 45, and Thulimaya Tamang, 67, of Narjamandap of Tadi Rural Municipality died on the spot in the accident, according to District Police Office's police inspector Kailash Bhattarai. 

Bus helper Nawaraj BK, 28, of Saatbise of Tadi Rural Municipality, Lal Bahadur Tamang, 54, and Ujeli Tamang, 37, whose addresses are yet to be ascertained succumbed to injuries in course of treatment at Basundhara-based Green City Hospital in Kathmandu. The seventh victim is Sabina Tamang, 22, of Raluka, Tadi Rural Municipality. She died while treatment at Grande International Hospital, Dhapasi. 

However, bus driver is on the run, following the accident. 

The bus carrying passengers more than its capacity met with an accident as the driver failed to operate it properly on a very congested and one-way route, as police believed. 

Meanwhile, Unified Rastriya Prajatantra Party (nationalist) chair Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani visited the Green City Hospital to take stock of the health condition of those injured in the accident. He urged doctors to leave no stone unturned for ensuring all necessary treatment to the injured, according to party central member Sundar Pandey.
