PM inaugurates Upper Trishuli 3 'A' Hydroelectricity Project

Kathmandu–Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed concern over 'the practice of seeking undue compensation' in the works of development and construction.

"The tendency to ask for excessive compensation from the government has become prevalent while harbouring the thinking that minimum revenue should be extracted by the state when selling their land or property. This kind of tendency is delaying the development works," PM Oli said.

Inaugurating the Upper Trishuli 3 'A' Hydroelectricity Project from the Action Room at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, he urged the citizens to seek only minimum compensation and recompense as per the law in projects of national interest.

PM Oli urged the people to work towards facilitating the development and construction works by seeking compensation as per the capacity of the government (to pay the same).

"Many development and construction projects have been facing problem even to this day due to the complications in land acquisition and other compensation," he said while urging one and all to extricate the projects from such problems and facilitate in their timely completion.

The Prime Minister likewise asked everyone to jettison the tendency to seek undue benefit from the state. The government has forwarded development and construction works centering on economic prosperity and all Nepalis would benefit from this, he declared. He stressed that making unreasonable demands would lead to the increase in the cost and time of the project and hence no one should engage in such wrongful tactics.

PM Oli inaugurated the 60-megawatts capacity Project from his office at Singha Durbar by employing remote technology. The project is constructed by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The PM Office and the project site, Simle of Kispang rural municipality, Nuwakot district were connected via audio-visual system for the inauguration by the Prime Minister.

On the occasion, PM Oli thanked Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun, NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising, the project contractor and all the project workers for playing active role in the construction of the project. He also expressed happiness with the connection of additional 60 megawatts power from the project to the national grid with its inauguration.
