NC draws its attention on new map issued by India

Kathmandu–The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has said its attention was drawn towards news that New Delhi has included the Nepali territories of Kalapani and Lipulek in India's new map issued recently.

Spokesman of the main opposition party Bishwo Prakash Sharma has, through the social media, called on the government to immediately make its views on the issue public and take serious initiatives in that connection.

Stating that Kalapani and Lipulek are Nepal's integral parts, Sharma stressed any questions regarding Nepal's soil raised from anywhere were objectionable and unacceptable.

Similarly, Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth organisation affiliated to the Nepali Congress, issued a press release today and wondered why the government was 'silent' even when the topic of India including Nepal's territories in its map has been made public.

In the press release, Nepal Tarun Dal president Jeet Jung Basnet has also demanded that the government should make its official views on the status of the territories in question public in deference to the wishes of the Nepali people. The press release states that it would not be acceptable to Nepal Tarun Dal if anyone take away 'even a handful of Nepal's soil'.

"Kalapani and Lipulek are our inseparable parts. We call on the government to immediately start diplomatic initiative for correcting the new map released by India," it is stated in the Dal's press release.
