Two arrested on charge of slaughtering cow
Nawalparasi - Police have arrested two men on the charge of slaughtering and selling beef, from the district. Cow is Nepal's national animal, and slaughtering cow, and selling beef are punishable according to the new constitution.
Buddha BK and Keshab BK of Madhyabindu Municipality-9 have been accused of slaughtering a cow and selling its meat to the villagers.
Area Police Office in the locality arrested the accused four days ago following a police complaint lodged by the villagers against them. The process was on to file a case against the arrestees on the same charges, police said.
Intentional slaughtering a cow or an ox is slapped 12 years of imprisonment, and one ordering the butchering is sentenced to six years in prison, according to the constitution.
