Only 27 per cent of private housing reconstruction completed

Kathmandu–Four years have passed since the devastating earthquake of April 2015 occurred but only 27 per cent of private housing reconstruction of Tarakeshwor municipality has completed.

Lack of clear policy in demolition and reconstruction of damaged houses built on narrow area and Guthi land and lack of budget and land ownership certificates of the houses have led to the delay, said the municipality's senior engineer Shashi Gurung.

Only 1,652 beneficiaries of the housing grant have rebuilt their houses of the total 6,174 damaged houses, said the municipality. A total of 5,062 beneficiaries have received the first tranche of the housing grant, and 2,085 second installments, said Gurung.
