Communications Minister Basnet asks Press Council to make newspaper categorization transparent

Kathmandu - Minister for Information and Communications, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has directed the Press Council Nepal to make newspaper categorization transparent. 

Minister Basnet issued such directives to Press Council authorities in course of carrying out an onsite visit of the Council on Sunday. On the occasion, he also asked to make the distribution of press pass by the Department of Information systematic. 

Also the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Basnet said, "Media should be made disciplined. Action should be taken against wrong doers and those who do good things should be awarded." 

Similarly, officiating Chairperson of the Council Kishor Shrestha clarified that the newspapers were categorized in a transparent manner to end the 'copy paste' journalism increasing as of late. 

President of Federation of Nepali Journalists and Council Member, Govinda Acharya, pointed out the need of restructuring the press council to meet the federal structure of the country.
