Three of same family killed as landslide buries home

Phalebas (Parbat) - Three people from a same family at Mahashila rural municipality-1 of the district were killed after their house was buried by a landslide Sunday morning. 

The landslide collapsed the house belonging to Tirtha Bahadur Malla. Malla, 63, his mother Bel Kumari, 80; and spouse Yam Kumari, 55, were killed in the incident. 

The rains triggered erosion on the roadway under construction in the settlement which further caused the landslide sweeping Malla's house, informed Ishwori Prasad Bhushal, Chairman of Mahashila-1. 

Bodies of those killed in the landslide have been taken to Waling, Syangja, for post mortem. 

The landslide also buried a dozen of cattle owned by Malla family. 

The landside has risked five more houses in the settlement. Efforts were underway to shift them to safe places, said police. The police added as the electricity supply was disrupted, it has been difficult to establish direct contact with the concerned people.
