House meeting today, four ordinances to be tabled

UML obstructed first two meetings of the ongoing session

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is being held on Wednesday.

According to the schedule published by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, four more ordinances would be presented in the House meeting that begins at 1 PM today.

Amid obstruction and sloganeering by the CPN-UML lawmakers, two ordinances were passed from the House on Tuesday.

According to the secretariat, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand will table three ordinances for endorsement.

He is scheduled to present the Nepal Police and Nepal Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment) Ordinance -2021, the Ordinance Regulating Acid and Harmful Chemical Substances-2021 and Social Security (First Amendment) Ordinance-2021 in the HoR meeting,  for endorsement.

Similarly, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Renu Kumari Yadav is scheduled to present the Railway Ordinance-2021.

The main opposition, UML, however, has been obstructing the House meetings since September 8. Protesting the inaction of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to sack its 14 lawmakers, the main opposition has continued obstruction. Amid obstruction, the summer session was prorogued on October 28.

Winter session kicked off on December 14.
