Vote count for NC’s central committee membership: Who makes it to top ten?

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Vote count for the election of a member of the central committee of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is underway at the Sanepa-based party head office. 

According to the election committee of the party, 3,595 votes so far have been counted. 

Of the votes counted, Dr Shashank Koirala is leading with 2,940 votes. 

A total of 99 candidates are in the race to be elected as the party’s CC members under the open category. The party, however, elects as many as 35 members. 

Voting to elect the central executive committee under the 14th General Convention was held on Monday, last week. 

Earlier, the vote count for the party's president, two vice-presidents, two general secretaries and eight joint general secretaries concluded.

1. Dr Shashank Koirala: 2,940

3. Balkrishna Khand: 2,207

4. Udaya Shumsher Rana: 2,167

5. Ramhari Khatiwada: 2,174

6. Ramesh Lekhak: 2,131

7. Gyanendra Bahadur Karki: 2,127

8. Shankar Bhandari: 2,112

9. Jip Chhiring Lama: 2,035

10. Arjun Narsingh KC: 2,030
