Construction of 12 RCC bridges along Karnali highway completed
KARNALI, July 21: Construction of 12 RCC bridges along the Karnali highway (Surkhet-Jumla road section) has been completed in last fiscal year 2020/21.
According to the Road Division Office, Surkhet, the construction of these bridges started from 2016/17 completed in the last fiscal year. Passengers faced great deal of hardships since long in lack of RCC bridges at most of the places of Karnali highway.
Engineer at Road Division Office, Surkhet, under the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, Tularam Sharma, said that the construction of all bridges except of Tila khola (rivulet) were completed within January 13, 2021.
Construction of the bridge at Tila rivulet was completed on June, 2021 as contract for the construction was signed late.
Construction of the bridges at Kuwakhola, Kalekhola, Paltada, Kanegad, Guhegad, Dahikhola, Tilakhola, Chhidena khola, Sinja, Patale khola, Lumchadi and Matekhola have been completed. The bridges were constructed at a cost of Rs 424.54 million, according to the Office.
Meanwhile, the Karnali highway has been obstructed due to a landslide at Serighat, Khandachakra municipality-2 of Kalikot district. The landslide was triggered by incessant rain since Tuesday night. The Road Division Office has employed a dozer for removing the landslide debris from the highway. It is estimated that the highway would be opened for traffic until this evening.
Similarly, a huge landslide triggered by the continuous rain has blocked the Karnali Corridor road at Regil of Sanni Tribeni rural municipality. The Karnali Corridor road runs from Kalikot to Humla alongside the Karnali river.
