SC orders to summon HoR meeting on July 18

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Supreme Court (SC) issued a mandamus to summon a fresh session of the reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) for 5 PM on July 18. 

A five-member constitutional bench presided by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, passed the order to call the House meeting, on Monday. 

The House was dissolved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on May 22 at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. 

Through its landmark verdict on Monday, the apex court issued the mandamus in the name of the Office of President to appoint Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister as per Article 76 (5) in two days.
