Maoist Center takes action against 14 elected representatives including two mayors

KATHMANDU, June 21: The CPN (Maoist Center) has expelled a total of 14 local people’s representatives from the party. 

A meeting of the party’s Central Committee, held on Monday, relieved the elected representatives after they decided to leave the party they were elected from, and join others. 

The list includes two mayors  --- Rina Kumari Shah of Maulapur Municipality in Rautahat and Siya Ram Kushwah of Katariya Municipality in Rautahat--- and five deputy mayors ---all from municipalities in Rautahat district. 

Similarly, chairpersons and vice chairpersons of different rural municipalities and ward chairpersons and members of various local levels across the country were also taken action as they left the party. 

The Maoist Center sent a letter regarding its decision to the Election Commission (EC) asking the poll-body to update the details, on Monday itself. 

The party also relieved 17 central committee members of the party including Ram Bahadur Thapa, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Prabhu Sah and Lekhraj Bhatta from the membership of the party after they joined the ruling UML.
